Deconstructionism

Deconstructionism: This theory believes that meaning is discovered through examining structural codes in the text. Deconstructionist believe that there is not "one" correct meaning in a poem, rather poems can be interpreted many different ways.

In this theory:

* meaning of text is found through differences.

* Language is arbitrary.

* Meaning is never final!

* Textual meaning is not infinite.

* It is important to locate the point of contradiction.

* The "point where the text breaks free" is established.

* close readings are important.

* The text does not have a unified, logical whole meaning.
