The The Association of American Geographers (AAG) is a scientific and educational society founded in 1904. Its 10,000 members share interests in the theory, methods, and practice of geography and geographic education.

American Society for Photogrammetry & Remote Sensing (ASPRS)

The American Society for Photogrammetry & Remote Sensing (ASPRS), founded in 1934, is a scientific association serving over 7,000 professional members around the world. Their mission is to advance knowledge and improve understanding of mapping sciences to promote the responsible applications of photogrammetry, remote sensing, geographic information systems (GIS), and supporting technologies.

Center for African Studies

The Center for African Studies is a designated Title VI National Resource Center for Africa supported by U.S. Department of Education funding. As such the program provides students, scholars, and members of the broader community opportunities to develop their understanding of this important world region.

Center for Air Quality

The Center for Air Quality fosters interdisciplinary applied research and education in the air quality arena. Universities, private consulting firms and industries in Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky, Texas, Illinois and Pennsylvania collaborate on issues facing the Midwest region.

Environmental Studies

Environmental Studies is an interdisciplinary academic unit that offers a Master of Science in Environmental Studies (MSES), a graduate certificate in Environmental Sustainability and Leadership, an undergraduate certificate in Environmental Studies, and numerous opportunities for faculty research collaboration and curriculum development.

ILGARD

ILGARD, Institute for Local Government Administration and Rural Development, turns Ohio University's expertise into real-world assistance for Southeast Ohio and the State. The institute provides applied research and technical assistance to government and development organizations and serves as a public service learning laboratory for Ohio University students.

International Critical Geography Group

The International Critical Geography Group is comprised of geographers and non-geographers committed to developing the theory and practice necessary for combating social exploitation and oppression.

International Development Studies

International Development Studies is dedicated to producing graduates who will be facilitators and catalysts for international development. The study of international development is approached from a multidisciplinary standpoint with a combination of theory and practical application.

Latin American Studies

Latin American Studies promotes a greater understanding of Latin America through academic coursework, internships, research, and language acquisition.

National Geographic Society

The National Geographic Society is one of the largest non-profit scientific and educational institutions in the world. Its interests include geography, archaeology and natural science, the promotion of environmental and historical conservation, and the study of world culture and history.

National Association of Environmental Professionals

The National Association of Environmental Professionals is the multi-disciplinary association for professionals dedicated to the advancement of the environmental professions; a forum for state-of-the-art information on environmental planning, research and management; a network of professional contacts and exchange of information among colleagues in industry, government, academia, and the private sector; a resource for structured career development from student memberships to certification as an environmental professional; a strong proponent of ethics and the highest standards of practice in the environmental professions.

The Office of Sustainability places great importance on involving students, staff, faculty, and the local community in our efforts to reduce our consumption of resources and minimize our ecological footprint.

Southeast Asia Studies

Southeast Asia Studies - The rich cultures, traditions, and societies of Southeast Asia are the focus of an interdisciplinary program supporting graduate studies at the masters and doctoral levels at Ohio University. The graduate program in Southeast Asian Studies was established at Ohio University in 1967. The goal remains one of providing opportunities for special in-depth study of this important and dynamic region of the world.

Women's and Gender Studies

Women's and Gender Studies provides an opportunity to explore the phenomenon of gender and its intersection with race, ethnicity, class, sexuality, and other elements of diversity. The program is interdisciplinary, which makes for a rich variety of course offerings across many fields.
