PROFESSORS SACK AND BUCKLEY RECOGNIZED AS “TRANSFORMATIVE FACULTY”

Professors Dorothy Sack and Geoff Buckley of the Department of Geography were recently named as “transformative faculty” by Executive Vice-President and Provost Pam Benoit.  Benoit allocated $100,000 for the colleges to identify and reward transformative faculty across campus with this prestigious honor that recognizes excellence in the area of teaching.  In the College of Arts & Sciences more than 100 nominations for this award were received.  Approximately 40 winners were selected by a committee of faculty members from the College.  This is not the first time that both Professor Sack and Buckley have been recognized for their excellence in the classroom: both are recipients of the College of Arts & Sciences Outstanding Teacher Award in previous years.  In addition, Prof. Buckley’s “field-driven geography” teaching style was highlighted in the “Vision in Action” section of the university’s Compass web site: http://www.ohio.edu/compass/stories/10-11/1/vision-in-action-transformative-teachers.cfm. Congratulations to both Dorothy and Geoff!
