Information for Geography Majors

Quarter to Semesters Transition (Q2S)
Ohio University will change to the semester system beginning Fall 2012.  Students who start at OU under the quarter system but graduate on the semester system are referred to as transition students.

During the 2011-12 academic year every OU transition student will fill out a plan that shows how they can complete their degree requirements on time in the semester system.  Geography students will complete this form, called the Transition Degree Completion Plan (TDCP), in consultation with their regularly-assigned academic advisor.  (Check My OHIO if you don't know who your advisor is.)  Information to help you fill out the form is provided on this webpage.

Sample TDCPs (Excel documents):
  • Sample 1 (Urban Planning major, two years completed under quarters)
  • Sample 2 (Urban Planning major, Spanish minor, Environmental Studies certificate; one year completed under quarters)

Spring
Quarter
2012
  • All TDCP forms are due at your normal DARS advising appointment.
  • The DARS you will receive in Spring Quarter will show your academic record translated to semester hours.  As always, your DARS will indicate your progress toward all graduation requirements. To avoid problems in the Q2S transition, follow your DARS.
  • If you haven’t already done so, BRING TWO COPIES of your Transition Degree Completion Plan (TDCP) to your normal DARS advising appointment.
  • You and your advisor must agree on the plan. The completed forms are then signed by you and your advisor, and each keeps a copy.  Your advisor will submit his/her copy to the Undergraduate Chair of the Geography Department.
  • By signing the TDCP, you and your advisor are agreeing on a plan to meet your graduation requirements.  It is up to you to follow the plan as you register for classes.
